Laptop buying guide -2022

As we all know that the processors are key factor in fact they are the brain of the electronic devices such as mobile phones and PC’s. In this blog we tried to give an insight about the processors in PC’s.

Especially we people mostly prefer intel processors over the other competitors. So, we tried to cover only about intel processors here.

Intel, a multinational company from USA mainly involved in providing the silicon chips mainly for PCs, desktops and computers. By value intel is the largest semiconductor producing company in the world. By the year 2020 the asset value of intel is about 184 billion USD.

Make sure that your PC is atleast equipped with these configurations

  1. Minimum of 4GB of RAM (if your PC comes with expandable RAM slot means it is even good)
  2. Make sure it is atleast equipped with Intel i3 core
  3. Select your processor atleast with 10th generation or more (Explained below)
  4. Minimum of 512GB of ROM (Internal storage)
  5. Should possess full HD 1080p display either 14 inch or 15.6 inch (15.6 inch well and good)
  6. The storage type should be SSD if possible because most of the brands offer HDD under the budget segment
  7. If you have budget go for the PC equipped with both SSD and HDD for speed booting and sufficient storage
  8. Make sure if your PC has further upgradation for free (that is for example Windows 10 to Windows 11)

Cores of CPU:

As we all know that higher the core count higher the performance. So the cores are i3,i5,i7,i9.

Before diving deeply into it, we should have to know about the what is hyper-threading, cache memory, clock speed of the processors and the generations of chipset such as 7th,8th generations etc., As the number of generation exceeds the size of the transistors packed in the processors gets smaller so that it becomes even more power efficient

Hyper-threading

A specialized hardware mechanism that allows the cores in the processors to work multiple times (parallel actions that is single core can produce the action equal to 2 cores)

Cache memory:

Cache memory is one which boosts up the activity of the ram and CPU. In simple it acts as a bridge between the CPU and the RAM in retrieving and loading the data even faster. Higher the cache memory faster the retrieval of the data.

Generation of processors:

As the generation of the processor increases the size of the transistors in the processors considerably decreases and the efficiency of the processors also increases.

Core i3:

The i3 processor of intel consists of 2 cores in which the manufacturers enabled the hyper-threading so that it performs as equal to 4 processors. The i3 processors have low cache memory of 3 to 4 MB. The performance of the processors largely relies on the clock speed of the processors and for i3 it ranges from 3.4 to 4.2GHz.

Core i3 suits for,

  • Casual users
  • Students for their work from home activities
  • Casual gamers.
  • Price range : 30,000 INR to 55,000 (Varies according to brand)

Core i5:

In the core i5 the processors should have 4 cores in the PC’s whereas in the desktop it has only 2 cores. Here in the i5 processor the manufacturers doesn’t enabled the hyper-threading.

Core i5 offers,

  • Higher no of cores than i3 processors
  • Higher cache memory than i3 (up to 6 MB)

In some higher end model the brands tend to offer the turbo boosting for seamless graphic experience.

Core i5 suits for,

  • Office workers
  • Students (i3 itself is enough but i5 stands better here)
  • Playing moderately graphically intensive games
  • Price range : 45,000 INR to 1,50,500 INR

Core i7:

It is especially for performing the demanding tasks and for the ardent gamers. In this the brand offers 2,4 and even 8 cores in high end desktops. But most probably 4 cored hyper threading enabled processors are available for most of the PC’s.

Core i7 offers,

  • Even higher cache memory than i5 (up to 8MB)
  • Even higher clock speed than i5 (up to 4.2GHz)
  • Improved graphics performance than i5)
  • Price range : 70,000 INR to 2,00,000 INR

Core i7 suits for,

  • Those who are involved in highly demanding tasks such are editing
  • For video editing purposes
  • For playing demanding games

Core i9:

Easily be named as a “chip of luxuriance” as it can perform any kind of activities with ease. The i9 processors comprised of 10 to 18 cores in all these hyper-threading is enabled.

Core i9 offers:

  • Extreme cache memory of 13 to 25MB
  • Clock speed up to 4.5GHz
  • Enhanced turbo boosting than core i7
  • Price range : 1,35,000 INR to 5,00,000 INR

The core i9 processors are not in mainstream but it is available in markets like USA and UK.

These are the basic insights that we tried to give you about the intel processors. Hope you all have an idea regarding the intel processors. We have also published an article on smartphone phone processors.
