Men vs Women: Brain activities

There always prevails a common opinion among us that girls perform better in their academics than boys and  boys have the better macro level managerial skills, creative thinking than girls. The scientific studies among various parts of the world also confirms the same.

Do you wonder why or have you ever thought about that?

In this short and crisp article, we tried to give you an insight about this X factor.

Let’s have a tour to our brains.

Does the size of the brain really matters?

The answer is “Definitely not”. In fact the size of the brain of male is 10% bigger than the female brain but why female brain works better than male (in most of the cases).

Before enter into the core of the post just try to give you a refresher about the functions of the brain.

We know that the brain is made up of two hemispheres right hemisphere and the left hemisphere and the ‘C’ shaped structure called corpus callosum.

Corpus callosum

Function of the right hemisphere some of the non verbal activities such as

Whereas the left hemisphere involved in the actions such as

Functions of corpus callosum

The"corpus callosum in between the hemispheres acts a bridge between the hemispheres and transfers the information from one hemisphere to other" and thus aids in co-ordinated activity of the brain.

Now we come to the point.

Why the female brain works better than male?

The connection of the corpus callosum between the two hemisphere of the brain is nearly 20 to 22% well established in the brain of females than males so that it is comparatively easier for females to retrieve the information.

The another reason is that the grey matter content.

What is the white matter content of brain?

White matter is found mostly on the deeper layers of the brain cortical cells and the typical white colour of this white matter is due to that the white matter is covered by a white sheath called ‘Myelin’.

It is responsible for the quicker transport of the electrical signals via the nerve cells(axons).

Grey matter of the brain

This grey matter is highly responsible for the memory action, sensory actions and the synaptic connections (enables the faster retrieval the information) the grey matter content and the synaptic connections are known to be developed comparitively well in the female brain than in the brain of males.

“Besides these factors some of the external factors such as family situation and the interests of individuals greatly influence their activities other than academics (whether it is men or women").

But men are developed well in creative skills and decision making ability and other managerial skills than females. The reason might be that men highly uses their right part (hemisphere) than the left hemisphere.

Here comes an very interesting thing!

Have you ever thought that how could the brain easily remember the songs and lyrics of the songs easily than any other things?

The brain imaging research and analysis reveals that very few activities such as listening to music involves both the hemisphere of the brain while most of other activities relies mostly on the right hemisphere. So that the mutual work of the hemispheres made the listening experience even more easier.

So what we are trying to conclude here is

“Men are not more agile than women and women are not more agile than men". Each and every individual are endowed with unique talent and we are all must try to expose it.
