We all are in very tough times. This year nothing is left spare. The major showstopper is Corona. Due to this pandemic situation, many things changed in our life. The biggest change is our over dependency on gadgets. We have no other way. But this helped us in some way. The act of rushing to browsing centers even for smaller things such as paying bills, transferring money, etc., got reduced now as we used to do such things ourselves.

We all came across "E Sevai" centers in our place. These centers are set up by Tamilnadu Goverment inorder to help people to get important documents and certificates quickly. Instead of rushing to these centres, we can obtain the certificates ourselves easily if we have a smartphone/Laptop/PC with net connection.

In this short article, we tried to explain how to acquire important documents through "E Sevai" portal step by step.

Creating E Sevai account

First we have to create an account in E Sevai portal. First click the new user for registration.




 Now a new window will open. In that, we have to give some basic information like Full Name, District we reside in, Taluk, Mobile number, E mail id and Aadhar number. We have create a login id and password. With this login id and password only, we can login and proceed further.



Searching and finding the service we want

After registering in E sevai portal successfully, we have to login with the use of login id and password we created and by correctly typing the Captcha (Completely Automated Public Turing test) displayed. 

After logging in, a new window containing different tabs such as Dashboard, Services, Check Status, Pending transactions, Transaction details and feedback will open.


Now click the "Services" tab. In that services tab, click "Service tab". In that a search tab will be displayed. We can type the name of the document we want and click the search button.


Applying for the document we want

Now we can click the name of the document we want. After clicking, a small window will open separately. 



In the window that opened, some general information such as description about the document, required documents and details regarding application fee. After reading the instructions, click the proceed button.



If you already applied and got any document through "E Sevai" center, give the mobile number used or name or father name or email id or CAN (Common Account Number for Tamilnadu citizen) number and click search. If you are applying for the first time in "E Sevai" portal, you have to register CAN number. If so, click register CAN button displayed. After registering CAN number you have to give that in the previous window and search.




Now, your other basic details will be directly displayed. You have to choose that and click the generate OTP button for verification. You have give the OTP that is being sent to the registered mobile number. Now a new window will open. In that window, your basic details will be automatically entered as you already given that in CAN registration page. You have to just give some additional details required for the certificate you want to apply. After giving the required information click proceed. 

Now we have to upload the required documents in the new window displayed. Make sure you compressed the uploading documents' size because the portal won't accept documents more than 200 KB. After successfully uploading all the required documents, we have to pay the application fee online. After payment a receipt will be generated. Now we will get an acknowledgement slip. In that slip, application id will be given. We have to wait for some more days to get our certificates as some time is required for officials to sign. We can check the status in the portal by giving the Application number. We can download the certificate in pdf format. 




Before printing, don't forget to validate the signature in the certificate using Adobe pdf reader as it is a digital signature.
